Ok.. enough with the introduction, let me explained how did I manage to kill the virus

It all started from yesterday night when I wanted to install some application that promise to help me with some crontab stuff that I’m dealing with now at my work.

Guess what?

I click ler nothing happen.

Then.. suddenly it dawned on me!

I frantically fumbled for the Ctrl Alt Delete button

And there I saw it..

The application is using up to 80% of my resources and is currently ranked second over FireFox(dear god!) that’s using even more (I wonder why?) lol.

ok anyway..

the first thing I would obviously do is to terminate the high performance crunching process only to realize there are so many other .exe I dont even know which is safe to terminate except for the 1386.exe that appeared like 20 times?

lol.. So after that.. my computer got so laggy.. I was like.. Oh my.. Shit~! Ahhh~!~! Why did I go and click on that stupid .exe when all my senses warned me not to.

So ok.. I was praying for a miracle.. God.. you wont kill my com would you?

I’m in the middle of a project now leh hehe

So time for Rescue Operation 101

Fire up Spybots- Search And Destroy.

“The latest update is blah blah 2006… would you like to update definition now?”

com is already so lag and now i need to deal with this..

all the time, Windows keep giving me irritating popup like

“You are infected with spyware! Click here to remove it now!”

“Your operation speed is slow. You may be infected with Spyware! Click here for security updates!”

And I thought God sent a savior from Microsoft.

So there I went, happily clicking on the link thinking I might have misunderstood Microsoft for a while now, they are all heart after all..

There I was..

“Remove slow loading virus by downloading our LATEST Software!”

I’m probably gleaming by then..

*Click Click Click and the download started…

Looking at the download meter like a school kid looking intently on the clock and countdown till reccess.

Wooo~!~! VICTORY IS MINE!!!

Install the software and Off I go! Scan like nobody business..

tons of threats has been found! The excitedness is increasing in me..

Finally.. for the last exulting moment.. I click on [REMOVE ALL THREATS]

Just like how Kira laughed wickedly after 45 seconds has passed and he thought all his obstacles are going to die in the container (Death Note Anime/Manga Last episode)

I faced the same shocking fate.

“You need to BUY before you can clear the virus”

Believe me.. The colorful language of mine that has been rarely heard from me came bombarding from this innocent mouth of mine for once, thinking Microsoft should just die.

so yeah.. Just when I thought the journey has come to an end.. I’m back in square one.. So back to Search and Destroy. Still scanning..

Ok nvm.. I still got my second weapon! Symentec Anti Virus! (last Update: today!)

If my anti virus is the LATEST and yet the virus could still run in my com.. I lost all hope for this little ol softy..

Still the desperate ol me decided to just give it a try. I leave my com on for the whole night JUST FOR symentec to scan through..

ZzZzZZzZ Off I went to sleep as My eyes buay ta han ler

12:00 PM. Woke up.

Went to check up my “on fire” computer to see if anything has been damaged. Looks good.. ANti Virus detected MANY and “Cleaned by Deletion” and “Partial Cleaned by Deletion - required Reboot” is EVERYWHERE!

I see liaoz sianz.. I’m afraid of restarting my com at this moment because it’s so laggy~!

well.. as time is running out, I just restart my com.. waited for the dreaded 20 minutes and relaunched all my application to continue scanning while I go for my jamming session

4:30 PM

Came back home.. After the Jamming session, I suddenly had this feeling that.. when I look at my com, everything is going to be alright! It’s just a nightmare from yesterday!

Well.. disappointment is always in the world..

The annoying popup is still appearing.

So fine.. As I always tell all my friend..

So I started brain storming.. what are the few ways that I could rid of this virus.. think think think and think.. FINALLY!

I realized an ultimate way of solving this.

*smack myself on the forehead.. Why didn’t I thought of that?

I feel such a disgrace being an RP Student for 3 years

I totally forgot about…

RP should have a problem statement for this

I could have just go to “google.com” and look for an answer..

So since my computer has been ringing with TrojanDownloader.XS and CoolWebSearch

I decided to just type in this 2 keywords..

within minutes.. 5 remover are at my disposal for each of the virus.

So I ran it..

I was so happy.. I thought it’s solved.. only to find out it came back.. by then I was like Water The Fish?

Suddenly very lost.. google also go through ler..

Having totally no more ideas, I’ve decided to just give one more solution ONE LAST TRY.

Google “TrojanDownloder.XS AND CoolWebSearch”

ANd POOF! Someone had the same problem as me! Happily.. look inside the forum read read read..

then… when I saw the solution I really smack myself everywhere lol

ComboFix… The software that helped us cleared the thumbdrive virus that was circulated in my school last time is ACTUALLY a GLOBAL remover that removes ALL MALWARE AND SPYWARE

I almost killed myself when I saw the solution. I was like.. Why didn’t I thought of that before? I’ve used it before and I didn’t know it’s an all rounder product..

So in the end.. went to download ComboFix and POOF~!~!

My computer is SOOOOOOooOoo SoooOoO CLEAN!!!

Now.. I thank God for ComboFix.. If not.. I would have been in alot of trouble considering tomorrow is my working day

This incident has made me reflect myself..

At the toilet.. I ask myself.. why did God allowed this to happen?

Then I think about 2 scenarios.. 1… I cant do my work tomorrow.. I need to format my com.. 2.. I solved it and become stronger.

Yes.. God has educated me that Format isn’t the solution to everything as long as I dont give up.. and the same goes for life… dont take the easy way out.. go for the hard way.. and gaine xperience from it

So many times I feel like giving up and just go and format.. But my pride as an IT Savvy Person stops me from moving towards that approach.. instead I tell myself.. No matter what happen I’ll continue to look into it and find a solution!

So in the end.. All was Good and IS good

I’m happily using this lovely computer now while hinting my sis at the back of my com about changing to a *mac when I come out of NS

So lovely babes and Dudez out there.. even though I didn’t experience it personally before.. I think ComboFix could clear all MSN Virus
